Cherie Mathews

When I first looked in the mirror after surgery, I was shocked when I saw my scars and drain tubes. My mind started casting doubt on survival and whether I would look normal again.

I went outside for my first walk after surgery and I saw my shadow on the sidewalk.  Unlike the mirror that reminded me of all the things that were wrong, my shadow reminded me of all the things that were right.  I was alive and still able to cast a shadow on this earth. From that moment on I would battle for only positive thoughts.

The mirror no longer dictated how I was doing.  So when you are able to go for a walk look for your shadow, remember, it’s there because you’re here.

I hope my shadow story encourages you to think positive and stay strong as you’re going though this difficult journey.”

Jamie Inman

n 2005 I learned I had breast cancer for the second time, and for the second time my life was spared because of early detection. Even though I lost both breasts and endured 18 months of hell, I emerged healthier in body and spirit. It has been a journey I would never have signed up for, but I would not trade for anything, and now I gladly devote myself to supporting people whose lives have been touched my breast cancer. After 7 breast cancer surgeries, I am thriving and fighting to end this !@#$%! disease. I sign off with my survivor’s motto: “I am alive . . . and I have cleavage!”  www. http://jamieinmanmft.com

Lisa Grey

Lisa Grey knows a thing or two about nutrition. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer, Lisa used nutritious foods and herbs to help her attack the disease. Her goal was to do whatever she could to destroy the cancer and keep it away.

When her tumor shrank in size just a few weeks later, doctors told her that ‘sometimes these things just can’t be explained.’ But Lisa believes that the explanation is good nutrition!

Since then, Lisa has had a passion for sharing simple, quick, and delicious ways to eat nutritiously…not only for breast cancer survivors, but for anyone overwhelmed with the prospect of healthy eating. Out of this passion, Pink Kitchen was born.
